famous Pisces personalities

Some famous Pisces personalities born under the sign of Pisces...

Albert Einstein
The German-American physicist Albert Einstein, a famous Pisces man, born in Ulm, Germany, March 14, 1879, and died Princeton, New Jersey USA, April 18, 1955, contributed more than any other scientist to the 20th-century vision of physical reality. In the wake of World War I, Einstein's theories - especially his theory of relativity - seemed to many people to point to a pure quality of human thought, one far removed from the war and its aftermath. Seldom has a scientist received such public attention for having cultivated the fruit of pure learning. With the rise of fascism in Germany, Einstein moved to the United States in 1933 and abandoned his pacifism. He reluctantly agreed that the new menace had to be put down through force of arms. In this context, Einstein sent a letter to President Franklin D. Roosevelt that urged that the United States proceed to develop an atomic bomb before Germany did. The letter, composed by Einstein's friend Leo Szilard, was one of many exchanged between the White House and Einstein, and it contributed to Roosevelt's decision to fund what became the 'Manhattan Project.'

Michelangelo
Michelangelo Buonarotti, a famous Pisces, almost certainly the most famous artist produced by Western civilization and arguably the greatest, is universally viewed as the supreme Renaissance artist. He created monumental works of painting, sculpture, and architecture and left an additional legacy of numerous letters and poems. Through this vast and multifaceted body of artistic achievement, Michelangelo made an indelible imprint on the Western imagination. A member of an old and distinguished Florentine family, Michelangelo was born near Arezzo, Italy, on March 6, 1475, and he died on February 18, 1564, in Rome. Always a Florentine patriot, even after he had expanded his art into a universal language, he exemplified the character of his native city: a passionate, proud, and independent man, he saw art as a sacred calling through which the dignity of human beings should be enhanced and celebrated. His lifelong fascination with the sublime form of the human body arose from this thoroughly Florentine sensitivity to the inherent worth and nobility of individuals.

Dr. Seuss
Dr. Seuss is the pen name of Theodore Seuss Geisel, a renowned children's author and cartoonist, born in Springfield, Massachusetts USA, on March 2, 1904, and died September 24, 1991. As a cartoonist, he also used the pen name Theo Le Seig. Author of more than 50 children's books from the 1930s through the '80s, Dr. Seuss's name became synonymous with a distinct style of writing, consisting of the use of nonsense words and rhyme--including internal wrenched rhyme--to instill syllable recognition in pre-readers and to encourage them to pronounce words. His best-known works include Horton Hatches the Egg, The Cat in the Hat, How the Grinch Stole Christmas, and Oh, the Places You'll Go, his last book.

Elizabeth Taylor
A violet-eyed English beauty, a famous Pisces woman, film actress Elizabeth Taylor, born in London, February 27, 1932, was catapulted to stardom while still a child by her fourth Hollywood movie, National Velvet. Although subsequently as celebrated for her glamorous personal life and numerous marriages - most notably to actor Richard Burton - as for her acting ability, she gave creditable performances in A Place in the Sun, Cat on a Hot Tin Roof, Suddenly, Last Summer, Butterfield 8, and Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf? For the last two she won Academy Awards. She has appeared on Broadway and occasionally on television.

Handel
George Frideric Handel, one of the greatest composers of the baroque period, was born in Halle, Germany, on February 23, 1685. He died in London on April 14, 1759, and was buried in Westminster Abbey. In his later years, he preferred the anglicised form of his name rather than the original form, Georg Friedrich Handel. Handel is best known for his English oratorios, particularly the Messiah. A prolific composer in many other genres, Handel is well known for his outstanding contributions to English church music, secular vocal music, and instrumental music of various types, particularly the concerto.
